Providing high quality gemstones and metal with a passion for traceability

 and responsible mining.

"I believe everyone should have should have access to fair markets and pay for the work they do. Whilst researching gemstone and metal mining as part of my final project, I found that there are still many individuals and mining communities that do not have access to either. They undeniably have the hardest working conditions, yet due to long supply chains and profit being at the helm of large mining corporations, they are often not even paid enough to live on, let alone better their lives for themselves and their families."

Philippa's passion for making ethical business decisions is clear from the moment you start talking to her. She has spent a lot of time speaking with changemakers within the industry to understand the issues that are still present today and what she can do as a business to make a difference.

Over the years, she has built strong relationships with handpicked suppliers that share the same vision. Gemstones Brazil, Nineteen48 and Ocean Diamonds are Philippa's core gemstone providers of both Diamonds and coloured stones.

Maíra (pictured) founded Gemstones Brazil in 2008. Her family owns and operate a mine in the Jequitinhonha Valley in the north east of Minas Gerais. As well as producing beautiful, high-quality gemstones, their main focus is ensuring they do as little harm to the environment as possible and have incredibly high standards when it comes to the health and safety of their staff.

Stuart, owner and founder of Nineteen48, has spent over a decade successfully shortening the mine to market journey to ensure the communities mining the gemstones get access to fair markets and pay. He has built fantastic relationships with miners across the world, notably Sri Lanka and Tanzania, and continues to be a force for good. His passion is infectious, and he really cares about educating people within the industry so that we can all do better.

Ocean Diamonds work closely with a team of experienced divers who search for alluvial diamonds off the west coast of Africa.

These methods are much less disruptive to the environment compared to commercial mining operations and are also far more transparent.

When it comes to metal, Philippa has a range of options to suit most budgets and is there every step of the way to assist you.  There are some fantastic recycled options out there, and single-mine origin is great if you are looking for something that is ethical on more than one level.

"I want my business to be as inclusive as possible. I welcome everyone, with any budget, to talk to me about their ideas. Although my preference is to use fully traceable gemstones and metals, there are times when this is not possible for a number of reasons. I have lots of alternative options and suppliers I work with, so please feel free to get in touch, and I will do my very best to make your ideas come to life".
